Involved with training since the 1980s, Bill Schofield has worked for Crane Institute of America (CIA), Sanford, FL, since 1992. As a trainer, he is described as articulate and able to break down barriers to student learning. As training manager he is called a team player and a mentor by those he works with. He was nominated by Jim Headley, President, for Crane Hotline’s annual Top Trainer Award.
Schofield developed standard operating procedures for instructors, trains new instructors, and provides technical support to customers. He was a major contributor in the development of a crane operator practical exam for the Crane Institute Certification Program. Likewise, Schofield introduced a hands-on rigging inspection exercise patterned after college laboratory testing. Students rotate through inspection stations of various pieces of rigging gear.
