For over 35 years Jim has made the Crane Institute into what it is today.
Jim has a vast experience in the crane & rigging industry as a crane operator, trainer, consultant, and expert witness. He is the author of our Handbooks, Workbooks and training materials used by the Crane Institute. He has also written and published numerous articles and has even appeared on the History Channels “Modern Marvels”.
Jim’s practical experience, technical and educational background has allowed him along with our other fine instructors to create what is considered “The Standard”.
Our five-acre state of the art facility is in Sanford, Florida just outside of Orlando. Our proximity to Orlando makes us a unique educational and training destination. We have two large classrooms onsite to accommodate our training programs offered here at the Crane Institute. The facility also houses our support staff and the day-to-day operations that make up the Crane Institute.
Our scheduled in person & virtual training classes are from 8 AM to 4 PM each day.
You must cancel at least 48 hours in advance via phone or email. No shows will be charged a $50 processing fee.
Yes, test are administered during the normal timeframe of the training program you do not have to schedule additional time for testing.
All our certifications and qualifications are valid for two years.
The online recertification exercise takes between 4-6 hours. You are given 10 calendar days to complete the exercise once you see the first question.
Approximately 2-5 business days after completion of the online recertification exercise. Persons taking a virtual or in person initial training class will receive them in approximately 7-14 days.
OSHA’s ruling in 2010 requires that all crane operator “certifications” through a training organization be called a “qualification”. To become a nationally certified operator you need to go to a nationally accredited company such as CIC.
We are located approximately 45 minutes from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and less than 15 minutes from the Sanford International Airport (SFB). We have several hotels & many restaurants within minutes of our training facility.
